Two years ago, Mallinckrodt Trade Compliance Analyst Liliana Perez decided she was ready to kick her career development into high gear. She was eager to improve her leadership and communication skills and knew she needed to get out of her comfort zone. After hearing about the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) from Mallinckrodt’s Women in Business group – one of the company’s eight Business Resource Groups – she joined HBA and became one of the St. Louis chapter’s most active members. In early 2017, HBA awarded Liliana with the 2016 LEAD (Leadership Excellence and Dedication) award, the highest Chapter honor for an HBA member. Chapter board members nominated Liliana for her passion for volunteering and helping other HBA members.
“I was pleasantly surprised by the award,” said Liliana. “I threw myself into HBA, taking advantage of as many opportunities as possible to further my professional and personal growth. It has been a tremendous learning experience.”
“Liliana’s achievements are admirable, and exemplify what we hope employees will gain through organizations like this – exposure to new people, ideas and events that help you grow professionally while having fun,” said Angela Cody, who manages Mallinckrodt’s Inclusion and Diversity efforts. “I’d encourage every employee to find an external organization that interests them and take on some responsibilities at any level; it’s an invaluable growth tool.”
Mallinckrodt has been an HBA corporate partner since 2014. More than 80 employees across Mallinckrodt are HBA members.
