How do you gain a “coveted seat at the table”?
“My ‘seat at the table’ has been achieved through persistence, determination, perseverance and resolve – all synonyms of tenacity, and all qualities that have helped shape my career,” said Michele Robertson, General Counsel for Mallinckrodt’s Hospital Therapies business. “I am also fortunate to work for a company that greatly values women in the workplace. Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals has provided me with a forum where my voice is heard and my opinions matter.”
On May 11, the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) honored her as a Rising Star at its annual HBA Woman of the Year event in New York City. The event brings together more than 2,000 healthcare industry professionals, recognizing 100 women who have exhibited outstanding leadership in two categories – Rising Stars (those in the first 20 years of their career) and Luminaries (those with more than 20 years of industry experience). Each year, Mallinckrodt nominates a Rising Star or Luminary to be honored by the HBA.
“I’m proud to be part of a company that makes a pointed effort to regularly recognize incredible women leaders like Michele,” said Angela Cody, who manages Mallinckrodt’s Inclusion and Diversity efforts. “This recognition is a double win. It gives Michele greater exposure within the industry at large, while also enabling Mallinckrodt to showcase the type of leadership behaviors it hopes to replicate throughout the organization.”
At Mallinckrodt, inclusion and diversity are at the core of the company, and as the company executes on its strategy to deliver treatments that make a difference in the lives of patients, it is strengthened by the value it derives from the varied identities, experiences, cultures and views of employees.
