Mallinckrodt has earned top honors on the 2017 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) workplace equality. The CEI is administered by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation.
“As we build a leading specialty pharmaceutical company with a portfolio of innovative therapies that deliver value for patients, we are strengthened by the varied identities, experiences, cultures and views of our employees,” said Mallinckrodt President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Trudeau. “We are honored to earn this recognition.”
The 2017 CEI rated 1,043 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBT community. Mallinckrodt’s efforts in satisfying the CEI’s criteria results in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality.
Significance of this designation is two-fold, said Angela Cody, Manager of Inclusion and Diversity at Mallinckrodt. The CEI is a tool that any person can use to instantly get a feel for a company’s culture. It also shows how far Mallinckrodt has come in the past year.
“The CEI demonstrates Mallinckrodt is progressive about truly creating an inclusive workplace for all employees,” said Angela. “Our company recognizes Inclusion and Diversity is a ‘must have’ as we move the organization forward. Our efforts that were recognized by the Corporate Equality Index are just one of the ways the company is accomplishing its overarching I&D strategy.”
