Mallinckrodt earned recent recognition as a Frost & Sullivan Manufacturing Leadership Award winner for its outstanding achievement in three categories – Operational Excellence Leadership, Supply Chain Leadership and Sustainability Leadership, as covered previously when the awards were originally announced. Mallinckrodt was honored at the 14th Annual Manufacturing Leadership Awards Gala in Huntington Beach, Calif., last month.
The company’s Hobart, N.Y., manufacturing site earned all three awards through its highly successful implementation of several key two-year initiatives designed to enhance multiple aspects of its manufacturing operations. These projects included:
– Operational Excellence: The management team set the goal to become the agile supplier of choice while engaging employees in a culture focused on serving customers through sustainable delivery of high quality products. The team developed a forward-looking strategy, identifying areas for improvement and taking strong actions to ensure the established objectives were met.
– Supply Chain: Working collaboratively across the plant, as well as with commercial and other support functions, the team implemented process modifications in inventory forecasting and scheduling. These changes resulted in value-added customer service and more effective cost management.
– Sustainability: The Hobart leadership team manages sustainability through a site-wide governance program to ensure they are thoroughly embracing manufacturing processes that are non-polluting, conserve energy and natural resources, and are economically sound and safe for employees, communities, and consumers.
Dave Hollingshead, Hobart Senior Site Director, said, “We were proud to represent the Hobart team in accepting these awards, and applaud the outstanding efforts of all involved in achieving this recognition.”
The Manufacturing Leadership Awards, now in their 14th year, honor manufacturing companies and individual manufacturing leaders that are shaping the future of global manufacturing. Winning projects and individual manufacturing leaders have demonstrated achievement in one of a wide range of categories, and are chosen by a panel of expert judges for results that have delivered clear and compelling value, return on investment, and other tangible outcomes.
