Mallinckrodt employees at the Hazelwood, MO campus kicked off the back-to-school season with a school supply drive for Lift for Life Academy – the first independent charter middle school in the city of St. Louis. The academy, located in the historic Soulard neighborhood, is dedicated to educating, empowering and uplifting the next generation of St. Louis citizens.
Susan Kelter, Head of External Communications for the Academy, joined employees onsite during a recent social event where she spoke about the Academy and collected the donations.
“It was wonderful to hear about the Lift for Life academy and the innovative programs they have in place for students,” said Michele Siebert, Manager, Environmental Health and Safety, who helped coordinate the drive. “We were more than happy to donate supplies and support their fundraising efforts as they begin another school year.”
The drive was a team effort coordinated by the Women in Business and African American business resource groups and the Hazelwood Employee Social Committee at Mallinckrodt. “I had the opportunity to visit the school earlier in the year and was impressed with the emphasis it places on helping the students succeed both inside and outside the classroom,” said Angela Cody, Sr. Manager, Diversity and Inclusion. “We are hoping to continue supporting the school through other initiatives in the future.”
