Mallinckrodt announced today that its Global External Manufacturing Operations site in College Business & Technology Park, Dublin, Ireland, has been awarded certification to the international standard for Information Security Management (ISO 27001). This international standard describes best practice for an information security management system.
“We are very pleased to be one of the first pharmaceutical companies in Ireland to earn this certification,” says Bob Jamieson, Mallinckrodt Chief Information Security Officer. “As an innovation-driven specialty pharmaceutical growth company, information technology and information security play integral roles within our company and our employees’ everyday work, focused on improving outcomes for patients with severe and critical conditions. Innovation is one of our company’s values, and information security management is crucial.”
An information security management system is a framework of policies and procedures that includes all legal, physical and technical controls involved in an organization’s information risk management processes. Achieving accredited certification demonstrates that Mallinckrodt follows information security best practices, and provides an independent, expert verification that information security is managed in line with international best practice and business objectives.
Mallinckrodt’s certification was issued by Certification Europe, an internationally accredited certification body. The site is the first Mallinckrodt location to achieve this designation, while the company is also pursuing ISO 27001 certification at its additional sites in Port Allen, La., and Madison, Wis.
