Mallinckrodt has announced plans to establish its new Global Corporate Headquarters in Staines-upon-Thames, outside of London. The announcement was made during a luncheon attended by Mallinckrodt employees, along with city and county council members, representatives of the local business community, and several local dignitaries, including the Borough of Spelthorne’s Member of Parliament (MP) Kwasi Kwarteng.

The new office located at 3 Lotus Park is expected to open in January of 2017 and will house 45 people in Mallinckrodt’s corporate strategy functions under Gary Phillips, M.D., Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer. Mallinckrodt has been in the UK for nearly four decades with offices already in Chesterfield, Derbyshire and Portsmouth, Hampshire.

“Today’s announcement confirms the UK’s strategic importance to Mallinckrodt as we continue our transition to become a high-growth, global specialty pharmaceutical business,” said Trudeau. “Having searched extensively for a UK base from which to implement our growth plans, we are excited to have found the ideal place in Staines-upon-Thames. I would like to thank Mr. Kwarteng for his guidance and support over the past year.”

“Mallinckrodt’s decision to establish its global headquarters in Staines-upon-Thames proves that the town is very much ‘open for business’,” said Kwarteng. “We have the people, skills and resources that international business requires, and it gives me great pleasure to welcome Mallinckrodt to the area. I first met representatives of the company last year when they were looking at this new investment in the UK and I am proud that my suggestion they consider the Staines area has now come to fruition.”

During his address, Trudeau also announced plans to donate £100,000 to the local Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the largest provider of acute hospital services in Surrey. The donation will help the Trust to continue to provide a high quality service to more than 380,000 people in the boroughs of Runnymede, Spelthorne, Woking and parts of Elmbridge, Hounslow, Surrey Heath and beyond.

“We are delighted that Mallinckrodt has chosen to link with Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals, and in particular with our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and wishes to make such a generous donation,” said Dr. Paul Crawshaw, Divisional Director for Women and Children’s Services and Consultant Neonatologist at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Trudeau commented, “We are excited to be establishing a presence here in Staines and look forward to playing a supportive role in the local community.”
