Angela Cody, Senior Manager, Inclusion and Diversity, at Mallinckrodt was named among 20 honorees in the St. Louis region recognized by the St. Louis Business Journal Diverse Business Leaders Awards. The awards highlight leadership in promoting diversity around race, sexual orientation and disability – acknowledging work that impacts and improves organizations and the community.
The journal profiled Cody in its Sept. 14 issue. When asked about what is important within leadership in this space, she shared she strives to live as an example and inspire people to be a driving force for change. She also notes the company’s commitment to inclusion and diversity, and its dedication of her role and resources toward making a meaningful impact for the organization and employees, as well as the communities and patients we serve.
Cody also spoke to her efforts locally as a founding member of the St. Louis Diversity and Inclusion Consortium, which has provided more than 50 organizations and leaders a space to work together to bring additional value back to their organizations and our community.
“I have great hope that this newly formed group of organizations will have tremendous positive impact on our community. When we can all come together and work toward a common goal, we can make a greater and more sustainable difference,” she said.
In companies and society, there is still more work to be done, she added: “We are moving down a continuum from equality to equity and, ultimately, to a place where the systemic barriers that prevent some people from being able to achieve their hopes, dreams and full potential are broken down and overcome.”
